This original crossword puzzle was created using multiple Microsoft Excel functions to format the cells' height and width, font and alignment, and add colored background. Clues (printed on the puzzle's second page) are also visible when students hover over the first cell of each word with their mouse. The conditional formatting option ensures that students are alerted to potential errors by a change in font color from green (correct word entered) to red (incorrect word entered). By learning a computer-based way to create crossword puzzles I was able to utilize a proven pedagogical tool while adapting it to the current technological context, addressing NETS II. This digital design tool will allow me to upgrade the quality and flexibility of the teaching aids I create for my students and help me develop a more technologically-enriched learning environment in my classroom.
